Bingara hosts Charity Bowls Day for Community Comfort Fund

September 21, 2019

The Bingara Bowls Committee hosted their inaugural Bowls Charity Day, raising funds for the Bingara Community Comfort Fund. “We had an excellent turn out raising $414 that has already been donated directly to another two recipients,” said Cr Catherine Egan.

The Community Comfort Fund is a local charity where funds are raised in small amounts to donate to locals with life limiting illness that may also need some support from their community. “We write to the recipients to let them know how valued they are to the community, which helps them immensely mentally.”

The Bingara Bowls Committee approached Cr Egan to host a day for the Community Comfort Fund, which they now have plans on making it into a calendar event. “It is these small events that keep us afloat and continuing to help locals,” said Cr Egan.

“We have helped 76 recipients since it’s inception in 2008.” Cr Catherine Egan is most grateful for the Bowls Committee for the idea and their hospitality on the day. “Everyone who attended the day thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the social gathering alone was well worth it.”

“I would like to thank Irene Edwards who had the idea and the committee for organising and running the day as well as everyone who attended and supported the event,” concluded Catherine.
