Bingara set for Australia Day festivities

Bingara is winding up for Australia Day festivities with Australian Paralympian swimming gold medallist Matthew Levy OAM attending the event as Bingara’s Australia Day Ambassador.

Throughout the day different functions will be held, beginning with an Australia Day Ceremony from 8am at the Bingara Historical Society Museum, hosted by the Bingara Special Events Committee. A barbecue breakfast will be prepared by the Lions Club of Bingara.

At the Ceremony, Bingara Central School Primary and Secondary Captains will take part in the official proceedings, as Brock Galvin and Phoebe Craddock do the Acknowledgement to Country and will join Angie Frewen in raising the flag. Deputy Mayor Cr Catherine Egan and Matthew Levy OAM will also have important roles, presenting this year’s young citizen and citizen of the year awards.

Gordon Steward of St John’s Anglican Church will lead the prayer to Nation on behalf of all the local church denominations.

In the afternoon, the Bingara Sporting Club will host the “Aussie Sporting Afternoon” from 4pm with everyone invited to enjoy golf and bowls.
