Christmas Carnival this Thursday

December 7, 2016

The annual Bingara Christmas Carnival will be held this Thursday 8th December at 6pm.

As in past years, the Bingara Lions Club has joined forces with the Bingara Special Events Committee (SEC) and Gwydir Shire Council to present the evening. The Christmas concert will be the highlight of the evening, with local performers taking to the stage to sing old Christmas favourites, as well as some new Christmas songs with a twist.

Performers include Peter Caddy, Johnette Walker and John Bancroft, Jamie and Joey Lanagan, Bingara Central School, and the very talented and extremely adorable students from Bingara Preschool.

The Christmas concert will kick off at 6.30pm in front of the Gwydir Shire Council Chambers, and at 7.30pm there will be a visit from Santa Claus.

Santa will be handing out gifts to all the children, so be sure to be on your best behaviour. Santa will also be available for family photos in the Senior Citizen rooms from 5pm.

The night will also include a Christmas tree decorating competition where teams of three or more will compete to decorate the best Christmas tree; market stalls, late night shopping and a free jumping castle for the kids sponsored by the Bingara Special Events Committee.

The concert concludes at 8.30pm with the lighting of the giant town Christmas tree in Fays Park.

The Bingara SEC hopes that all businesses in town will help make the street look festive by decorating their shop windows and the small tree that was donated to each business last year by the Bingara Lions club.

Also any donations of old Christmas decorations would be extremely appreciated to decorate the street. Donations can be dropped to the Council Chambers or Bingara Information Centre.
