Christmas spirit hits the Shire

There are only 21 days until Christmas now and Bingara kicked started the Christmas carnivals and festivities this season.

Warialda Rail Christmas Carnival will be held this coming Saturday, 7th December from 6:30pm at the Sportsground. There will be plenty of family fun including face painting, reindeer food making, Apex train rides, obstacle course, jumping castles, food and market stalls as well as visit from Santa at 7:30pm. BYO alcohol (strictly no glass) and there are prizes for best dressed.

Next Saturday is Warialda’s Christmas Carnival on 14th December from 6pm at the Recreation Ground. It’s packed with kids’ activities, market stalls, visit by Santa, live music as well as Warialda Pharmacy Wife Carrying (teams of two) and farm carrying (teams of four) competition. The Committee will also be announcing the winners of the Christmas Light Competition with the prizes kindly sponsored by Regional Australia Bank.

Also happening on Saturday 14th December is North Star’s Christmas Carnival from 4pm at the Sports Club. There will be a buffer style dinner including baked ham, rolls and salads for $25 per person whilst the kids eat free with a sausage sizzle and ice cream. There will be a plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained and Santa will arrive at 6:30pm.

The last Saturday before Christmas will see three carnivals take place across the Shire. Coolatai Christmas Tree carnival is on Saturday 21st December from 6:30pm with a jumping castle, best dressed adult, child and scooter/bike, raffles, a barbecue with gold coin donation and a visit from Santa.

Also on Saturday 21st December is Croppa Creek’s Christmas Party. The Club is open from 3pm with Santa arriving at 6:30pm. There will be raffles, yabbie races, gumboot toss competition, jumping castle, barefoot bowls, spit roast dinner and a mail-box presentation.

Gravesend is also celebrating Christmas on 21st December with the festivities starting at 4pm and Santa also making a special visit. For more details, check out the Gravesend Community Group’s Facebook page.

Upper Horton is hosting their Christmas Party also on the 21st December at the Sports Club with the whole family invited to celebrate the festive season. Santa will be arriving at 7pm.
