Come to the Roxy

September 4, 2016

Have you ever sat in a theatre and wondered what it would be like to be up there on that stage, with the spotlight trained right on you?

Ever watched a performance on stage, TV or in a movie and thought “wouldn’t it be great to just lose yourself in a character like that?”

Well, why don’t you come along to the North West Theatre Company’s play readings and have a go.

It’s a lot of fun – nothing too serious.

It is time for all fellow thespians to spend another enjoyable couple of hours at the Roxy and join in as the North West Theatre Company (NWTC) presents another afternoon play reading.

North West Theatre Company next play reading requiring 12 parts or characters will be The 39 Steps.

The 39 Steps is a melodrama adapted from the 1915 novel by John Buchan and the 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock.

Thus the film’s serious spy story is played mainly for laughs, and the script is full of allusions to (and puns on the titles of) other Alfred Hitchcock films, including Strangers on a Train, Rear Window, Psycho, Vertigo and North by Northwest.

Sounds like fun? Then come along and enjoy, whether you would like to read a part or are happy just to listen.

  • When: Sunday September 11th (the day after the Local Government Elections)
  • Time: 4.00 pm
  • Where: Upstairs in the Roxy Conference Room.
