Gwydir Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from individuals, community groups or businesses looking for a unique opportunity to develop their operations in the hospitality industry by running a contemporary food and beverage enterprise with flair, creativity and imagination that meets the demand for quality food in the region. Two fantastic opportunities are available.
The Roxy Café
The Roxy complex is a multi-purpose venue with modern conference and function facilities, and is a regional centre for cinema and the performing arts, with regular live shows and movie screenings. The Roxy has recently been heritage listed, and is a magnificent example of an interwar cinema and cafe, one of only a few remaining in Australia today.
The Gwydir Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from potential lessees willing to build the Roxy Cafe business to its full potential, and help make the Roxy complex an iconic regional destination.
Located in Bingara the 100 seat cafe/restaurant features faithfully restored 1930s decor and boasts a fully equipped commercial kitchen complete with pizza and combi ovens. The café caters for functions for the adjacent Roxy Theatre such as weddings, and conferences as well as walk in trade. There exists endless opportunities to value add including high teas and off site catering as well as providing old-style lollies and fudge for the passing tourist trade.
Warialda Visitor Information Centre Kiosk/Cafe
Located within the Warialda Visitor Information Centre on the busy Gwydir Highway. The Kiosk attracts travellers and passing trade as well as locals.
The café seats up to 25 patrons with indoor/outdoor seating and has basic food preparation facilities suited to light meal preparation such as sandwiches, wraps, milkshakes and coffee.
The kiosk takes advantage of the busy Visitor Information Centre trade as well as the visitors to the caravan park, which is located directly across the road.
