Ethan Brown is the Gwydir Shire’s Junior Employee of the Year. He has been working at Meat on Maitland for five years, ever since he started his apprenticeship at 16 years of age.

During this time he has grown to be an asset to the business. He is always friendly, positive and interested in his customer and needs, often offering meal suggestions and cooking tips to customers to get the best results from their purchase.

It is often said that good service is hard to find, particularly from young people. But Ethan is living proof that it still exists.

The Senior Employee award was presented to Jennifer Brown from Touriandi Lodge for her dedication to the care and needs of both staff and residents.

Jennifer runs the profitable business with fairness and high expectations, lending her support to the staff, residents and their families. She is always looking for ways to implement new ideas that will improve life for the residents and make work easier for the staff.

As a result, Jennifer is very “hand’s on” always making herself available at all times, making sure she knows and understand the individual needs and feelings of each person at the lodge. When other staff are unavailable, Jennifer will work “stand-up” shifts, working alongside her staff, caring for the residents. She likes to ensure that all the residents consider Touriandi Lodge as ‘home’.

It’s recognition for everyone that works there, not just myself and I’m so proud of them,” said Jennifer upon receiving the award.
