Gwydir welcomes NSW Governor

August 18, 2018

NSW Governor, His Excellency, The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), and Mrs. Linda Hurley have begun their tour of this region, meeting with community groups in Warialda on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning before moving on to Bingara.

The couple met with CWA members, mostly from Warialda, and members from both the Warialda and Bingara United Hospital Auxiliaries on Monday afternoon. To mark the occasion, Mrs. Hurley planted a rose in the grounds of the Warialda CWA rooms. Mrs. Hurley is the Patron of both the CWA and the United Hospital Auxiliaries, and has composed songs about both organisations. After distributing song sheets, she invited all in attendance to sing along with her – which they did. Afterwards they met with, and were entertained by Warialda school students.
