Nestling on the western edge of the New England Tablelands, in a region known as the North West Slopes, Bingara is conveniently central. Central in the Region, between the major towns of Tamworth, Armidale, Inverell, Moree and Narrabri and central in the state between the major cities of Sydney and Brisbane.
Bingara is at the centre of the Fossickers Way, a scenic route offering a quiet alternative to the New England Highway. Trade the flat endless plains and heavy traffic of the Newell Highway for the peaceful and spectacular volcanic scenery of the volcano way between Narrabri and Bingara.

- turn east at Narrabri for the shortest route to Brisbane and the Gold coast
- travel east through Armidale to Coffs Harbour and the NSW mid North coast
- travel through Inverell to the North Coast.
Situated on the Gwydir River, Bingara is the gateway to the mighty Copeton Dam.
