Saturday, December 5, 2009 was Barney's Day, a charity day for cancer research. Once again it was a great success with 95 players taking part in a 3 person event.
Thanks go to all people involved in the running of the day. Well done.
Race team completes Prokart season (7-Dec-09) [Read
A Bingara based Go Kart team was started by Alan Bilsborough earlier this year, which is interesting seeing that his own father, Russell Bilsborough, helped build the Bingara track just west of the show ground in the 1950s. Russell, along with his wife Nell (deceased), were founding members and active participants of the Bingara Go Kart Club for a number of years.

Bingara Pony Club ribbon day, held on Saturday attracted about 60 entrants and was enjoyed by all who took part. The One Day Event, held on Sunday was also very successful, with 40 members giving the newly upgraded Cross Country course at the Showground the ‘thumbs up’.

The Upper Horton Sports Club will be holding their annual dog trials on the long weekend, June 6, 7,and 8, 2009 at the Upper Horton Sports Ground.This will be the 23rd year of dog trialing. It has grown from a one day event to the present three days and this year is shaping up to be the biggest yet.

The Bingara Polocrosse Club played another exciting weekend of polocrosse when they made the long trip to attend the Merriwa Polocrosse Carnival recently. With the Warialda Polocrosse carnival being cancelled, Bingara were determined to play. The weekend paid off with one of the two teams winning the finals and the sub juniors showing they are a tough team of players.

Bingara Pony Club was a great success this year with fun being had by all. The final two days sees fierce competition in the One Day Event and Gymkhana. But, what marks the Bingara Club is the pleasure that many of the children derive from seeing their friends do well, even if they have been beaten by them.

The Bingara Bullets along with all Group 19 Clubs and the Police have adopted a new alcohol policy for 2009. All Clubs are committed to a safe family environment for everyone at their games and to make this happen some changes needed to be made. While no one can remember any unsocial incident at Gwydir Oval, never-the-less the idea is about prevention not reaction.

“Victorious draw” for Missiles Tag Team (28-Apr-09) [Read
Last Saturday week the missiles fought a gallant battle with only 10 players on a full field at Tingha. The missiles were outnumbered with no reserves and walked away with their heads held high after a 5 all draw. Tingha had plenty of reserves and even though they had one extra player on the field, they couldn’t stop the defense and attack of our missiles.

Although numbers were up by over 20 on last year, Easterfish competitors along the Gwydir River found the fish to be most uncooperative. The Anglers Club received 233 entries, again with good support from the Pally Fishing Club.

A 1.045 kg Yellowbelly caught at Copeton Dam put young Bingara angler, Nicole Wilson on the list of prize winners at the year’s Easterfish competition. Because no cod were weighed in, Nicole won the prize, a new fishing rod, on a countback.

Congratulations to the Imperial Tradies who won 21-7 against a gallant Gwydir Shire Council Team. The Bingara mixed Oztag has been a huge success this year and will kick off another great season in early October. Look out for further details and details of the AGM meeting in the coming months.

Sunday March 15 saw a large number of riders roll into Moree for the first round of the Club Championships, mostly there to have a race on the Boolloroo track leading up to the NSW Junior State Titles in which Moree will host Round 2.

Bullets ready to Fire (12-Jan-09) [Read
Indications are that 2009 will be an even better year for the Bingara Bullets than 2008. The disappointment of missing the semi finals by a whisker will be left well in the past as the 2009 squad starts its conditioning work this week. All players are invited to be at Gwydir Oval at 6pm on Wednesday 14th January to meet the Club’s new conditioner and decide future training times.
