A Bingara based Go Kart team was started by Alan Bilsborough earlier this year, which is interesting seeing that his own father, Russell Bilsborough, helped build the Bingara track just west of the show ground in the 1950s. Russell, along with his wife Nell (deceased), were founding members and active participants of the Bingara Go Kart Club for a number of years.

New South Wales State President Jewel Buchanan recently visited the Warialda bowling club. This was a special trip organised for President Jewel to meet and have discussions with members of the small isolated clubs of the north west, namely Warialda, Bingara, Ashford and Croppa Creek.

The Bingara Polocrosse Club played another exciting weekend of polocrosse when they made the long trip to attend the Merriwa Polocrosse Carnival recently. With the Warialda Polocrosse carnival being cancelled, Bingara were determined to play. The weekend paid off with one of the two teams winning the finals and the sub juniors showing they are a tough team of players.

All Clubs are committed to a safe family environment for everyone at their games and to make this happen some changes needed to be made. Last Saturday week the missiles fought a gallant battle with only 10 players on a full field at Tingha. The missiles were outnumbered with no reserves and walked away with their heads held high after a 5 all draw. Tingha had plenty of reserves and even though they had one extra player on the field, they couldn’t stop the defense and attack of our missiles.

A 1.045 kg Yellowbelly caught at Copeton Dam put young Bingara angler, Nicole Wilson on the list of prize winners at the year’s Easterfish competition. Because no cod were weighed in, Nicole won the prize, a new fishing rod, on a countback.

Indications are that 2009 will be an even better year for the Bingara Bullets than 2008. The disappointment of missing the semi finals by a whisker will be left well in the past as the 2009 squad starts its conditioning work this week. All players are invited to be at Gwydir Oval at 6pm on Wednesday 14th January to meet the Club’s new conditioner and decide future training times.
