It’s Bingara Polocrosse Carnival time ()
21-Jun-12

It is midyear through the polocrosse season and it’s time for the Bingara Club’s annual carnival. Our club has been very busy in preparation for this event and we are expecting large amounts of teams this year. It is such a pleasure to host our carnival on such fantastic grounds like the Bingara Showground, on which the amenities and fields are highly spoken of amongst the polocrosse community.

This year in conjunction with the normal open A, B, C and D grades we are running a women’s only competition. This is very exciting as it gives women polocrosse players a chance to compete against same sex and strength players, enabling a more equal and rewarding competition.

We have some very strong teams from around the New England attending and are also very hopeful that some teams from the Hunter Valley will make the trip north to attend also. As well as action packed polocrosse games both days, Saturday night is sure to entertain both the polocrosse fraternity and the Bingara and surrounding communities alike. We have a 2 course roast dinner on offer for $10/adult and $5/child, as well as full bar facilities and D.J. entertainment to help you dance the night away. The bar and entertainment will be in operation until 12am.

It has been a fantastic, fun season for Bingara thus far and we have enjoyed trips to Cubberoo, Guyra and Warialda to name a few. Guyra put on some wonderful weather for us and our C grade team, consisting of Gavin Tickle, Jodie Tickle, Louise Dailey, Philip Frewen, Brendan Frewen and Tracey Frewen, just missed out on being awarded runners up in the C grade comp by a count back to Warialda. Congratulations must go to Philip Frewen who played spectacularly to take home the best number 1 position in C grade also.

The club then ventured to Warialda where due to low club numbers we were upgraded to B grade for the weekend. The competition was tough and our team, consisting of Raymond and Joan Kelly, Brendan Frewen, Tracey Frewen and Jodie and Gavin Tickle, won 50% of their games and stepped up to the challenge well, but came home empty handed. Philip Frewen filled in for an Inverell team for the weekend, and once again his performance was outstanding, winning the best number 1 of the carnival in the A grade competition. Well done Phil.

We are really looking forward to the rest of the season and representing Bingara at many other carnivals around the state.

We would like to thank our major sponsors and the Bingara community for helping to make our event possible. So come on down to the Bingara Showground this weekend and meet the hard working committee and club members, we really value the community support and hope to see you there. Entry is free to spectators and you are more than welcome to camp for a small fee (includes powered sites and fantastic amenities.)
