A plant species, thought to be extinct in NSW has been rediscovered in the Bingara District. Dodonaea Stenophylla, a type of hopbush, has been discovered in good numbers in an area of national park near Keera east of Bingara and again, just recently in a block of state forest a few kilometres east of town.

Two of the judges attending the Upper Horton Dog Trials were Mr. John Rosten and Mr. Ray Williams, both from Uralla. Mr. Rosten judged the Encouragement Class for Yard Dog Trials and Mr. Williams officiated at the Encouragement Class in the Arena Trials.

Upper Horton Sports Club held its 26th Annual Dog Trials on the June long weekend in fine weather which was appreciated by everyone. Entries were very good, from most areas of NSW and Southern Queensland, and had to start on Friday June 8 to fit them all in.
