Bingara Orange Festival in brief () 17-Jul-10
The Annual Orange Picking Ceremony will take place on Friday, July 30, 2010. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first orange picking ceremony.
We would like to encourage everyone to come along and help celebrate this unique Bingara tradition. If you know the whereabouts of ex students or teachers of Bingara Intermediate High/Bingara Central School or St Mary’s Catholic School please encourage them to come along.
If anyone has any old photos from the orange picking over the years we would love to make a copy of them to put on display at the festival.

Saturday, July 31 is the date for this year’s Bingara Orange Festival.
There will be Free live entertainment by Matt Zarb, Little Poppy for Kids, Rodney the Clown, market stalls, food and wine, amusement rides, “Pastels in the Pub” art exhibition, festival parade, Roxy Theatre Tour at 1.30pm, football at Gwydir Oval Bingara Bullets V Inverell.
We have had a number of early registrations for market stalls and sites are filling up fast. If you or your community group would like to have a stall at this year’s festival please get your forms in as soon as possible. $100 prize for best stall display.
Since it is the 50th anniversary of the first official orange picking this year we have decided that ‘Oranges’ should be the theme for the parade. The ideas are limited only by your imagination.
Suggestions are: Orange or oranges, history of the trees, heroes that went to war, heritage of Bin-gara, 50 years/golden anniversary, military, school uniform through the years - the possibilities are endless. $300 Best Large Float, $200 Best Small Float.
