The River Rats played host to Robb College on Saturday and went down in both grades. An entertaining afternoon of football was only spoilt by Robb besting the Rats right on the bell once more.

Saturday saw the River Rats take on the Barbarians at Gwydir Oval in perfect conditions. In two top games of football the crowd where well entertained with the efforts of both our 2nd and 3rd grade sides.

Saturday saw the River Rats go up the hill once more to take on Glen Innes and Guyra at Guyra. Third grade came away with a loss 24 - 10 whilst Second grade let a win slip through their fingers and came home with a 19 all score line with Glen Innes.

Saint Alberts College came down the mountain in force on Saturday to take on the Gwydir River Rats and what a great day of football was had by all. 35 Albies players made the trip to Bingara and stayed on over night to enjoy the hospitality of the Shire. The thirsty thirds once more led up front by Browny were unable to withstand the blistering attack from St Alberts going down 41 - 5 however they never stopped trying and it was fantastic to see them with a full compliment of players with still more to come. They never really combined together on the day however they did show immense amounts of promise.

Armidale were too strong for the Rats on Saturday taking the points in both games. In what was a fantastic effort from the lads there was no shame in the results. With several players out due to injury and work commitments the players took to the paddock for both games and showed true Rat heart.

On Saturday the Gwydir River Rats hosted the Inverell Highlanders in a trial match at Gwydir Oval. In a match that was played in good spirit, the well drilled Inverell side dominated the Rats. It was a good opportunity, however, for the boys to play against one of the best rugby sides in the Central North.
