Bingara’s newest residents were treated to a new residents’ evening on Thursday at the Roxy Cafe. The new residents, as well as local community group representatives, attended the evening with a warm welcome delivered by event organiser, Georgia Standerwick, and General Manager, Max Eastcott.

New residents, Suzanne Buckland, John and Gay Raymond, chatting with a ‘forever’ resident, Brenda Pankhurst.

“We wish all newcomers a sincere welcome,” Max said. “We hope you will embrace the community spirit that the community and its respective groups strive for,” he continued.

When Max asked how many new residents there were in the room many raised their hands.

A follow up question asking how many moved here based on their great experiences holidaying in the area yielded an almost identical number of hands. Expressing his delight, he continued “Make sure you let all of your friends know how welcome they are in Bingara!”

The event was a resounding success with approximately 60 people attending the event.

New residents Pam and Graham Cooper, who made the move from Hervey Bay in December, expressed their glee at their new home with Pam saying, “we just love, love, love it! No roundabouts or traffic lights. As soon as we came over the bridge we knew we would love it here, because of the trees. They’re beautiful.”

Georgia said the response was overwhelmingly positive, the evening was really worthwhile.

“Many people commented on what a friendly place Bingara is”.
