Four of the five Pony Clubs in the Gwydir Shire; Gravesend, Warialda, Bingara and Upper Horton are holding their annual Pony Camp this week, ahead of the Zone 8 Jamboree, to be held at Upper Horton next week.
Gravesend Pony Camp started on Saturday, with 69 riders this year, numbers are up from last year. Riders will compete in dressage on Thursday, Showjumping on Friday and Saturday they will have a full day of competition and the end of camp.
Organisers have praised the children on their fantastic attitudes and great spirit during the long, hot days. The donation of beautiful cakes and treats have also been greatly appreciated.
Warialda has 30 riders taking part in Pony Camp, including riders from Moree, as Moree is not having a Pony Camp this year.
Bingara also has 69 riders, including nine associates. Food features at the Bingara club, with legendary caterer, Marilyn Dixon, her daughter Bez and their team of keen cooks catering. Gymkhana will be held on Saturday and the Jamboree team announced.
Upper Horton Pony Camp starts today.
North Star held their Pony Camp in July.
The Pony Club Association Zone 8 takes in the Clubs at Bingara, Collarenebri, Garah/Boomi, Gravesend, Gurley, Lightning Ridge, Moree, Mungindi, North Star, Tulloona, Upper Horton and Warialda.
