Warialda Honey Festival rescheduled

October 18, 2017

The Warialda Honey Festival Committee has made the tough call to reschedule the event from this weekend to a new date next year.

Scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 21, the event will now be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018.

With more than 70mm of rain dumped over the past week, Warialda’s Recreation Ground has been flooded, and waterways around the town have seen huge amounts of water pass through.

With more rain predicted this week and 10-20mm forecast for Saturday – the proposed day of the event – a decision had to be made.

“It was a tough call to make, but last year we hoped for the best and unfortunately it did rain,” committee member, Sharnie Kent said.

The Committee will now continue to plan for the rescheduled 2018 festival, and aim to hold an interim event close to Christmas.

Many of the main attractions of the postponed festival will remain on the program for the March event.

“Benny Nelson, Dan Wade, the Amateur Bee Association and stallholders are all jumping on board with the new date and we are trying to secure another act as well for the new date.”

The Jump4Em Charity Campdraft which was to be held in conjunction with this weekend’s Honey Festival is still scheduled to go ahead, and locals are invited to head along as spectators, or for dinner on Saturday night. For campdraft enquiries, contact Stacey on 0488 923 958.
