🌳IT’S EASY BEING GREEN 🌳

There’s a popular Chinese proverb that says “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now”.

Gwydir Shire Council are heeding these wise words and making the most of the wetter than usual summer, planting hundreds of trees with the aim of future proofing its towns and villages for years to come.

Golden Ash, Chinese Pistachio and Tristaniopis Laurina, or Water Gum as they are more commonly known, are among the three hundred trees of varying species which have recently been planted in parks, median strips, and central road reservations throughout the Gwydir Shire.

Council has identified the planting of trees as a key priority in its Climate Change Adaption Plan and will be significantly increasing tree planting over the next few years as funding becomes available.

Newly planted trees changing the streetscape now and in years to come.
