What
The talented and multi-skilled participants of ArtStart projects during 2011 in the NENW region will be on show at the ArtStart Regional Showcase and Arts North West would like to invite you to see and experience the results of all their hard work.
This is an opportunity for 2011 ArtStart applicants in the NENW region to showcase their project and share their skills with the region’s youth art network.
ArtStart projects across the region have selected an aspect of their project that lends itself to be displayed or performed. The free event will be held between 10am and 3pm on Saturday 17 September. (Lions Club will provide food and drinks for sale) Some of the activities will be:
- Improvised Theatre
- Drumming
- Live Radio
- Singing
- Circus Skills– juggling, diablo, hooping & plate spinning
- Spinning & felt making
- Creating Digital Comics
Where
To encourage maximum participation, the regional showcase will be staged under a marquee on the Bingara Oval, Bingara to provide the shortest travel distance for participants from the NENW region.
Why
To provide an opportunity for the region’s youth to display and perform their art to their contemporaries and to a wider audience. The skills developed in preparation for the showcase event have developed good organisational skills and teamwork along with fostering a professional standard of work for public exhibition. Importantly, this is an opportunity for youth to share ideas and work practices with each other that have been developed through the ArtStart project.
Arts North West is developing (through ArtStart funding) a youth online website called Art Seed www.artseed.org.au This website is for our region’s youth artists to promote their art, provide a forum to ‘talk art’ and help develop and grow a creative youth online network within the region, more information will be sent to ArtStart participants when this website is up and running. Your input is crucial so send any feedback or comments to Arts North West.
