The 2020/2021 swimming season has closed for both Bingara and Warialda Swim Centres.
For both centres the openings were delayed due to the completion of the great renovations at Warialda, and an upgrade at Bingara.
The season has been challenging and exciting with a record number of people using the facilities. This was due in part to free entry being extended to Gwydir residents and rate payers.
Gwydir Shire Council stated, “It had been hoped that we could extend the season but since the recent rain and cooler nights the number of patrons has declined significantly and the decision has been taken by the lessees to close as normal.
“Council will work with the pool lessees over the coming months and look to taking full advantage of the heating systems and blankets at each end of the 2021/2022 season.
“Council would like to thank the pool lessees for their services and all who enjoyed the facility. Over the entirety of the summer season the pools have been well presented and safe places to enjoy the Gwydir Goodlife.”
