236 High Quality Angus Bulls are to be sold at this year’s annual Booroomooka Angus Bull Sale which is to be held on Friday 16th August at Keera, Bingara at 12 noon. All the sale bulls are rigorously selected for fertility, structural soundness, good type and quiet temperament.
The Booroomooka Cow Herd is unique, developed since 1926 on hilly native grass country. The cows are resilient – adapted to cope with lower quality native grasses and seasonal fluctuations. Booroomooka cattle are renowned for resilience, high fertility, outstanding doing ability, good weight gain with high carcass quality.
“Buyers have a quality choice of bulls that are leading in growth, calving ease, fertility and carcase traits,” said Sinclair Munro.
A large number of bulls will suit to heifer mating, as 130 bulls are lower than breed average for birth weight. For buyers chasing weight for age, there are 198 Bulls above breed average for Growth (58 are in the top 10%).
The market for Angus Cattle is exciting, with a diversity of markets that pay premium prices for high quality beef. Buyers have a choice of 225 Bulls that are above breed average for marbling (64 are in the top 10%).
Fertility is a key driver in profitability. Whilst we cannot control the seasons, we can select bulls that will produce genetically fertile daughters. 196 bulls are above breed average for fertility (with 78 in the top 10%). The bulls have all passed a Veterinary Bull Breeding Soundness Evaluation.
The bulls have been independently assessed for structural soundness, temperament, hair type and Muscle Score. The Sale bulls display outstanding shape and thickness with 45 B- muscle score or better, and all but 5 bulls in the sale are C+ or better.
This year buyers have a quality choice of 20 sons of Matauri Reality, A highly proven easy doing calving ease sire with high marbling and large scrotal size. Other exciting sires of the sale bulls include: Emperor (21 sons), Complement (35 sons), Bartel E7 (14 sons), Prophet (25 sons).
