Delicious! Delectable! Scrumptious!
These are not normally words used to describe the performance of a play, but in the instance of Gosforth’s Fete, opening at the Roxy Theatre in Bingara on Valentine’s Day, February 14, these may well be the words used by the audiences.
The North West Theatre Company is combining the Play with the serving of High Tea.
Gosforth’s Fete is a short one-act play by Alan Ayckbourn. When the NWTC decided to stage it, the question was raised, “How do we add value to a short play about a disastrous village fete?”
The answer? Offer a delicious feast to follow. High Tea is a very English tradition. A combination of cold and hot dishes served on vertical layered plates as finger food delicacies.
“The High Tea to follow Gosforth’s Fete is very much in keeping with the theme of the play,” said Producer, Carmen Southwell. “The simple task of serving tea is just one of a string of catastrophes that befall the villagers of Little Pendon as they try to conduct what quickly becomes, ‘a fete worse than death’,” she added.
Tickets for the three performances of Gosforth’s Fete on February 14 and 21 as 7:30pm evening shows, and on February 15 as a 2:30pm afternoon matinee, are available through the Bingara Visitor Information centre on 67 24 0066 or book online now.
The $25 ticket price includes both the Play and High Tea to follow. Tea and coffee are also provided and it is BYO for your other beverages.
