A Special Gathering

November 29, 2013

Next Thursday, December 5, Vision 2020 will have its last gathering for 2013.  The venue will be The Living Classroom.  We will have a brief meeting at 6:00pm followed by a finger food supper. The food and soft drinks will be provided and please bring your own "hard liquor" or "fire water".

One of our last tasks for V2020 in 2013 is the first stage of the Family Tree Orchard at TLC.  Please see below a letter from our president, Garry McDouall regarding this project. If you would like to become involved in stage two of the project, please follow up with Garry.

"Firstly, thank you for agreeing to participate in the Family Tree concept on The Living Classroom. Secondly, my apologies for the delay in following this up with you.

As you may have noticed, the apple and pear orchard is now planted, mulched and watered – 56 trees comprising eight different varieties. The concept is dwarf varieties closer to the front (the corner of Cunningham Street and West Street) building to taller varieties moving closer to the wall of the bottom lake. I believe this will be a magnificent entry point to The Living Classroom.

Because the trees were all bare rooted stock, we had to move quickly to get them into the ground before spring. My thanks to those who participated in the small working bee to plant them, and to Gwydir Shire Council for ground preparation and installing the watering system. Despite some minor damage from the odd stray animal, the trees are in good shape.

We are currently considering ideas to acknowledge all participants and welcome your input. We hope to do something special.

We are also looking to Stage 2 of the project, and are awaiting finalisation of design concepts from John Mongard before proceeding. If you are interested in adding other family members to your commitment, then please respond to this email. As an example, Linda & I have bought each of our grandchildren a tree, and hope that it will provide them with a lifelong connection to Bingara.

If you would like to be considered a "friend" of The Living Classroom, and be on the email list for all developments and events, then also please say so in your reply.

Vision 2020 has underwritten the project, and now needs to collect the money. Attached is an invoice for your indicated commitment, together with Bank transfer details. The cost is $50 per tree. Please also treat the Invoice as a receipt.

Vision 2020 is holding its next General Meeting as a Christmas Party at The Living Classroom on Thursday 5th December, starting with a short meeting at 6pm. We supply food and soft drinks, you bring your own other drinks. You are invited to join us, and kids are most welcome.
Thank you
Garry McDouall

President"

Hoping to see you next Thursday, and please drop me a line if you and your family will be coming so that we can have plenty of "fairy bread".
Cheers
Rick Hutton – Publicity Officer.
