Bingara Medical Centre

The Bingara Medical Centre is a rural teaching practice situated in large purpose built premises, which are provided by the Gwydir shire Council. It is the only practice in the town and has in excess of 2000 patients, including those from surrounding districts.

accredited-general-practice-logoThe practice has four consulting rooms, a treatment room, a three bed triage suite and a pathology consulting room.  The practitioners are visiting medical officers to the local district hospital and are participants in the education of medical students from around Australia.

The practice is approximately two hours away from the closest Base hospital and specialists. However, a full range of general practice services is offered from the centre’s practitioners, including palliative care and women’s health.

An optometrist visits monthly.

  • Wednesday & Friday – 9am to 5pm
  • Saturday & Sunday – Closed.

Billing Arrangements

  • Bulk-bill Medicare for all Gwydir Shire residents.
  • Visitors pay at time of consultation.
