Are you ready to go on stage?

The North West Theatre Company is keen to get back into the Roxy Theatre with a one act play plus dinner/lunch in November of this year. The Company has selected the play “Shadows” by Josephine Carter to be directed by Rick Hutton.

“Shadows” is a comedy/drama centred on a senior lady Erica Strong who lives alone in the big family house. Erica is visited by her three children Susan, Anne and Martin who all want her to leave the house and go into a ‘home for the retired’.

Erica is strong willed and resists all suggestions for her to leave. She has her treasures, her possessions and her memories in the old house. And there are her ‘shadows’.  A man and a woman are also in the house. They can speak to each other and to Erica, but Susan, Anne and Martin cannot see or hear them.

Susan’s husband Ted is returning from America. He is a successful businessman and wants to fund Erica’s move to her new residence.

Dr Blake, Erica’s physician, is coming to her house to make the arrangements, but there are some unexpected stories to be told and some strange twists to the tale.

Two parts in the play are still to be cast, they are Erica’s children Anne Strong and Martin Strong. Both characters are in their mid-thirties and so could be played by actors aged from early twenties to late forties.

If you would like to be considered for one of these parts please contact Director Rick Hutton on 0428 255 380, NWTC Vice President Lee Loudon on 0409 307 799 or our Publicity Officer Carmen Southwell on 0428 241 542.

“Shadows” will be performed at the Roxy:

  • Saturday night: November 14 and 21
  • Sunday Matinee: November 15 and 22.

The show will be followed by a dinner with the evening shows and a lunch after the matinees. All meals will be provided by the Bingara Lion’s Club.

Bookings for “Shadows” can be made through the Bingara Visitor Information Centre at 02 6724 0066 from mid-October.
