Bingara’s Australia Day Ambassador, Jose Calarco, is reportedly looking forward very much to his visit to the town to take part in the Celebration of Australia Day on Saturday.

Mr. Calarco has wide experience in a range of arts disciplines, from producer and administrator of largescale events, to innovative artistic direction in the fields of dance, film, theatre and music. He is currently Director of Descendance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dance Theatre.

Celebrations will begin at the Bingara Museum at 8.00 am, where the Bingara Lions will be cooking a barbecue. Breakfast can be bought for $2. Local performers, Tony and Helen Cornish will be entertaining.

Following the breakfast, the official proceedings will begin at 9 am. At this time the citizenship Awards including Young Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year and the Community Event of the Year will be announced along with a presentation from ambassador Jose Calarco.

A program of golf and barefoot bowls is planned at the Bingara Sporting Club for later in the day.
