B double route access is now available to in excess of 95% of the local and regional road network within the Gwydir Shire Council area.
The areas that have been identified as unsuitable have been excluded from the approved B double road network.
Council has recognized that freight is a major cost to the movement of stock and grain from farm to market and is impacting upon the farming community.
Allowing the use of B doubles within the Gwydir Shire Council area will contribute to the sustainability and future prosperity of the Gwydir Shire Council community. The Council has been working with the community in response to the need for B double access across the Gwydir Shire Council.
The access approval covers all local road and regional road network except for:
• Residential streets within the town centres of Bingara and Warialda not servicing industrial, retail and commercial areas;
• MR133 Killarney Gap Road west from 61.5km to Shire boundary (as measured from Bingara);
• Copeton Dam Road east from Towarra Road to Shire Boundary (Copeton Dam Wall); and
• The following river crossings being;
Blue Nobby Road at Ottleys Creek;
Whitlow Road at Whitlow Creek;
Riverview Road at Gwydir River;
Upper Bingara Road Barracks Creek (1st Crossing); Upper Bingara Road at Barracks Creek (2nd Crossing).
