A memorial day for Andrew Galvin (Barney) hosted by the Bingara Sporting Club is held on the first Saturday of December and funds raised go towards “Kids with Cancer".
This year’s Barney’s Day was another successful day despite the weather, with 69 golfers and 50 bowlers participating. The funds raised this year totalled $4080, a vast amount when you consider the size of the town.
The Galvin family took the opportunity to thank everyone who kindly donated towards the day in this week’s Advocate.
"Thankyou to the, Bingara Bakehouse, Bingara Fruit Market, Meat on Maitland, Erol Fletcher, Andy Hart, Alf Eather, Barbara and Ellie Woods, Peter and Penny Odell, Merv Galvin, Betty Parsons, Robyn Smith, Ted Sparke, Elaine Geddes, Terry Erwin, Adam Reading, Iris Alsop, Jason Choyce, Gunnedah Golfers, John and Kathy Wade, Peter and Brenda Pankurst.
Thanks to all those volunteers who had the golf course and bowling greens in such wonderful conditions.
Thankyou also to the Bingara Sporting Club for the use of their facilities without these the day wouldn’t have been successful.
Once again on behalf of Kids with Cancer, thanks again to everyone who made this memorial day very successful.
Finally thanks to Tony and Helen Cornish for providing the music that kept the large crowd entertained.
