Best dogs on show at Upper Horton

June 3, 2016

Upper Horton Sports Club will be conducting their annual championship dog trial on 10-13 June 2016. This year will be our 30th year of yard dog trialling, starting as a one day event to our present four days.

Over the years we have seen a big improvement in the dogs and the way they are handled. Our Arena trial is in its 22nd year and has given the competitors a chance to work their dogs in both trials which they appreciate.

Our major event will be the championship yard dog trial which carries with it the Paul Hodges Memorial Trophy. The yard section also encourages maiden and novice events.

The arena trial starts at lunchtime Friday June 10 with the encourage trial. This section is open to all to encourage workers.

Both dog and their handlers do not have to be registered. There will also be novice and open events. Competitors will be coming from most areas of NSW and Southern Queensland.

The dog high jump will be held at lunch time on Sunday June 12. This is a very popular event which is enjoyed by all. If you have a dog that can jump, come along and join in on the fun.

The dog auction will be held Sunday June 12 with the demonstration of sale dogs at 11.30 a.m. Dogs have to be started and under control. At the time of printing there are seven dogs entered. If you have a dog for sale, or wish to buy one, please contact Barry Madden on Ph/Fax 02 6782 7296.

Meals and refreshments will be available of a day and great meals at the club at night. There will be plenty of firewood for the campers plus free camping on the sports ground.

With some of Australia’s top handlers and their dogs competing, it should be a great weekend. Many thanks to our sponsors, we appreciate your help.

Please direct enquiries to Barry Madden, trial organiser on Ph/Fax 02 6782 7296.
