Gwydir Shire Council has engaged the services of Landscape Architect, John Mongard and his team, to prepare a planning report strategy for the Bingara area.
As part of this process a ‘Shop Front’ will be open to all residents on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th June at the former Adam’s Garage in Maitland Street Bingara.
This is your chance to have your say in an informal environment. Many people do not like attending meetings and many feel they do not get heard by Council Representatives or Staff. This is your chance to speak with an impartial and objective listener. John will note your ideas and suggestions and then present them to Council and the Community.
This process has proved very successful for Gwydir Shire Council recently in Warialda with over 70 residents dropping in and having their say at the Hope Street ‘shop front’. John is to present the Warialda Study to the community on the evening of Thursday 19th June. Given the recent well attended public meeting in Warialda, Council expects another big roll up.
The purpose of the ‘Set-Up Shop’ process is to create plans and improvements for Bingara which are created directly from residents’ comments and feedback. The “shop” becomes a space to exhibit the growing list of ideas and issues of the community. People can come in to look at the evolution of current concepts and then add further comments and suggestions.
Everyone in the Bingara area is encouraged to put forward their ideas and suggestions on the future development and direction of the Bingara area.
There will also be a Community Meeting on Tuesday night, June 17. This meeting will be at the Roxy Theatre and will commence 6.30pm. All are welcome.
Draft Concept Plans and Sketches for the Bingara Riverscape and Bingara Gardens Interpretive Agricultural Park projects, prepared by John Mongard Landscape Architects for the Council, can also be viewed and commented on in the shop and at the public meeting. These two projects are initiatives of Bingara and District VISION 20/20 that have been endorsed for evaluation by the Council and Vision 20/20 will be an active stakeholder in the discussions.
