Bingara boxers’ next fight to be held at Inverell

November 5, 2007

Bingara Boxing Club made the long journey to Ballina with five fighters and after two hours of negotiations only three boys were matched to fight. Thanks to the support of our sponsors, the boys were able to fight in Club boxing trunks and boots.

Nic Butler
Nic stepped up a weight division to fight one of the Ballina local fighters. Nic and his opponent traded punches right from the opening bell, however, due to Nic’s constant pressure his opponent retired against the ropes. Nic threw a beautiful combination which resulted in the referee giving the Ballina boy a standing eight count. The Ballina boy did not want to continue and Nic was awarded the winner of the fight due to a stoppage in the first round.

Kyle Fletcher
Kyle stepped up two weight divisions. Kyle’s Ballina opponent weighed 6 kg more but this did not deter Kyle. From the opening bell, Kyle threw combination after combination, continually scoring points. After three rounds, Kyle was unanimously awarded the winner.

Peter Reading
Peter, also, stepped up a weight division to fight another Ballina local. Peter moved around the ring very well. His use of his long jab was excellent and he continually threw left right combinations. After three rounds, in a very close decision, the fight was awarded to the Ballina local. Despite his loss Peter enjoyed the fight so much he was heard to say “When am I fighting next?”

The Club’s next fight night is December 8 in Inverell.
