Bingara Central School 150th Reunion update

February 14, 2012

As you all know this year is the 150th Anniversary of our school.  We are working hard to ensure that the events held on 29th and 30th June will be entertaining and memorable.  So far everything is shaping up well.

Program, so far, includes:-

  • Friday: Orange Picking Ceremony, Rededication of the Library, Morning tea/lunch, Open Classrooms, Entertainment, School Tours, displays etc.
  • Saturday:  Open School, Displays, Participation in the Orange Festival Parade and festivities followed by the formal function in the evening.

A registration form is available on the school website and also at the Advocate office.  For those of you who are ex-students of BCS could you please fill one in and send it back to us.  This will help us to gauge how many visitors to expect.

One of the things we would like to do is construct a memorial garden to those children who passed away whilst a student at Bingara Central.  To this end we need your help.

If this applies to your family and you would like a memorial plaque made please contact either Chris Whitfeld or Jan Miller on 6724 1606.  Or similarly if anyone knows of a child to whom this applies can you contact either Chris or Jan and we can seek approval from their family to have a plaque made.

We will also be planting a Time Capsule representing 150 years of education in Bingara.  We have been told that there has been at least one other buried previously.  If anyone has any knowledge as to when and where they might be located then we would love to hear from you.

With thanks
Jan Miller
