Bingara Central School News: April 1, 2010 (Week 10, Term 1)

April 6, 2010

This year’s Easter Hat Parade, held today under the ‘hayshed’ was again excellent. The Easter Hat Parade has become an important tradition in our school and something that infants teachers and students work hard to make such a special event.

It was wonderful to see so many parents, carers and grandparents at the special morning tea. Everyone enjoyed the class performances.  I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our students and families an enjoyable Easter and a restful two weeks of school holidays.

School resumes for students on Tuesday 20th April.

Rhythm Konnections
Secondary students enjoyed drumming workshops with ‘Chinta’ from Rhythm Konnections based at Byron Bay. I was amazed at how quickly Chinta was able to get a group of up to 20 students all synchronised in a complex drumming performance. The purpose of the workshops was to create a piece to be included in the school production of ‘Joseph’ next term. I look forward to the drumming group getting back together for rehearsals and practice next term.

Trevor Galvin
Trevor ‘Grinner’ Galvin, the school General Assistant and Farm Assistant, is taking extended leave beginning these holidays. Grinner is by far the longest serving staff member at school and I wish him a happy break over the next two terms. We will look forward to his return in fourth term.

Steve Fletcher has been appointed as Grinner’s replacement for this period.
