Bingara Central School News: April 22, 2010 (Week 1, Term 2)

Term 2 Commences
Staff and students have returned this week in anticipation of a busy and productive term.  Teachers took advantage of the Pupil Free Day to evaluate teaching programs.

For Primary and Infants teachers time was spent in assessing the Writing Rescue program while Secondary teachers concentrated on elements of the NSW Dept of Education Quality Teaching’ framework.

There is much to look forward to this term including Anzac Day, Cross Country, Bingara All Schools carnival and our production of Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, the first performance of which will be a matinee on Wednesday 16th June.

All these extra curricular activities add value to what we do most which is teaching and learning in our classrooms. Semester one reports will be issued on Monday 28th June, which is the final week of this eleven week term.

Our student ANZAC Day service will be held on the front lawn, where the Lone Pine is planted, at 10:30 this Friday, 23rd April. Parents, carers and community members are invited to attend.

The school SRC and all students have been invited to participate in the town ANZAC Day march on Sunday 25th April. Students, in full school uniform, need to meet at the intersection of Maitland Street and Cunningham Street at 10:30 am.

Student Teacher
This week we welcome Jessica Russell-Davies, from the University of New England, to a four week practicum with the Year 2 class. Jessica will work with regular class teachers Alison Johnson and Andrea Alliston to develop her skills. As is evident in this photograph, Year 2 has already made Jessica feel welcome and I am sure she will enjoy both her time here and learn a lot about the skill and art of teaching.
