ANZAC Day Ceremony and March
On Friday 23rd April the school held its annual ANZAC Day ceremony on the lawns at the site of the  Lone Pine in front of the school.

The ceremony was conducted by members of the SRC and began with school captains Kristen Heal and Gabriel Brennan describing the events in a poster designed to  commemorate the 95th Anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli. The poster, which shows photographs of then and now, confirms the link between generations and reaffirms the strength of ANZAC values and  traditions held then and now. We also heard from Jacob Bilsborough (Yr 5) and Ashley Rafter (Yr 9) who gave their perspective on what ANZAC means to them and why we should continue to recognise and celebrate ANZAC Day.

The commemorative address was given by Mr John Ward. John is a currently serving member of the Australian Defence Forces and he spoke of the important role of the modern  Australian Army in conflicts such as Afghanistan and as peace keepers in the Solomon Islands and East Timor. John was  keen to stress the important constructive role the ADF plays in  assisting nations to rebuild and recover from conflict.

On Sunday morning a large contingent of both Primary and Secondary students joined the town march and ceremony at the Memorial Gardens. All the students presented and conducted themselves extremely well. Many community members of the Bingara sub branch of the RSL who spoke to me wanted to congratulate the children and express their appreciation for their involvement in the ceremony. I would also like to add my appreciation to all those students and families who supported the march.
