RIDE 2 SCHOOL
Bike Safety Awareness Year 4 student Lachlan Butler is the lucky recipient of a brand new bmx bicycle thanks to this bike safety awareness initiative. Late last year, Lachlan and many other students both here at Bingara Central School and across the north-west entered a competition to decorate a bicycle helmet whilst promoting bike safety. Lachlan is the lucky regional winner and he was presented with his prize by ABC radio presenter Jennifer Ingle at this week’s primary assembly.

SRC TRAINING DAY
Last Friday, the Student Representative Council (SRC) mentor teacher Mr Ben Wright and students from Year 6 to Year 11, who are current members of the 2009 SRC, enjoyed a training day at The Roxy.

The first part of the day focussed on identifying and developing leadership qualities in these students. This was achieved by the students firstly identifying some well known leaders and then discussing their special leadership skills. The discussion then focused on the students as leaders and the skills they needed to be effective leaders.

The main task of the day was to develop a constitution for the SRC. The constitution will set guidelines for how the SRC will operate at school now and into the future. Particularly it will set expectations of members of the SRC and how elections for positions will be conducted.

The day was not all work. The students were rewarded with some good food and time to play with the Wii on the big screen.

Thank you to The Roxy for access for this day and congratulations to all these young leaders. I am confident that their efforts will result in a constitution which will give clear direction to future SRC members.
