Bingara Central School News, January 31, 2009 (Week 1, Term 1)

February 4, 2009

Holidays are over and the new school year has begun at Bingara Central School. Students have settled into classes and teaching and learning is well underway. There have been few staff changes from 2008 but I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new school Principal.

I have come to Bingara from Ashford Central School where I have worked for the last six years. It is apparent to me that there are many similarities between the two schools and I hope that my experience can benefit Bingara in ways that will support good educational outcomes for Bingara students.

My first impressions of Bingara Central School are of a very well resourced school with a dedicated staff. There is an exciting blend of both experienced, long serving teachers working along side of younger enthusiastic teachers keen to develop their profession. The curriculum offered is interesting and varied and students of Bingara Central School can be confident that they will have every opportunity to succeed.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge Mr. Bob Johnston for his work as the relieving Principal for three terms in 2008 and for the way in which he prepared the school for the start of 2009. I am looking forward to ‘getting to know’ the students and their parents and carers and to leading the school in a way that seeks to provide opportunity in a safe and caring environment.

New Kindergarten One of the best aspects of a new year is the welcoming of the new kindergarten class. A big step for both the children and their families, I want to reassure everyone that for all the uncertainty associated with the first days of school it is a very exciting and positive time. I am confident that the children will settle in quickly and they will soon develop patterns and routines that will set them on the path for a life of learning.
