Bingara Central School News: March 19, 2009 (Week 8, Term 1)

March 22, 2009

Students elected to the 2009 SRC were presented with their badges at a ceremony held to mark the occasion on Friday 13th March. The ceremony coincided with the National Servicemens Association reunion which is held in Bingara each year.

Representing the NASHO’s were Mr Carruthers, Mr Harris, Mr Davis and Mr McFadzen who presented the Captains, Vice Captains and SRC members from Years 6 to 12 with their badges.

Mr Wright, SRC Support Teacher, spoke positively of this years council members and highlighted the leadership potential of these students which has been recognised by their peers. Mr Wright was also able to present a cheque for $2458 to Gwydir Shire Mayor Cr. Bob Tremain. This money was raised by the SRC to support Gwydir Shire Council in  assisting victims of the Victorian Bushfires.

At the same ceremony we were also able to recognise the professional achievement of some of our teachers. Mr Wright, Mrs Marshall, Mr McConnell, Mrs Brien, Mr Crispin and Mrs Kinnear were all presented with their teaching certificates by the Member for New England, Mr Tony Windsor. Teachers are after being assessed as having met professional competency standards during the first years of their teaching. Congratulations to these teachers.
