FIRST DAY OF THE HSC
Jade Dixon, Kristen Heal, Mitchell Anderson, Michael Andrews, William Johnston and Ben Bentley settled down to their first HSC exam last Friday week in the St Mary’s Hall. Finally the day of the first exam had arrived.

Thirteen years of schooling and hours of cramming in the last few weeks had all come down to this. Students were both excited and apprehensive. Mr Kevin Hansen, HSC supervisor, invited the students inside and the HSC was finally a reality.

Some two hours later it was all over. Relief had replaced the apprehension. The exam had been fair and they had given their best. They could do no more but focus on the next one. This would be the second English paper on Monday and so on for the next few weeks.

Completing the HSC is one of the most challenging and potentially rewarding achievements someone can do and we wish these six students success in their exams and in life beyond school.

ALLY DIXON IS ‘GOING TO HAWAII’
Year 9 music student Ally Dixon has been selected to join the “West of the Divide” school orchestral tour to Hawaii in March 2011. Members of the orchestra will come from schools across western NSW and Ally joins three other band members from Warialda High School. Music teacher Robyn Conway will join regional Arts Consultant, Di Hall, on the tour.

The school P & C and Band Support Committee have both provided $300 to support Ally’s fund raising efforts. There is also planning for a night of performances later this term at the Roxy to support all four local students. Details still to come. This is a wonderful opportunity for Ally to develop her musical career and we wish her well on the tour.
