Bingara has a 2014 Showgirl

Judging of the Bingara Showgirl competition took place in December. Amy Young was sashed as Bingara’s 2014 Showgirl and will represent Bingara in the Zone judging to be held in Barraba on February 22.

The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl competition encourages the participation and awareness of issues faced by women in rural NSW and provides contestants with the opportunity for growth in their personal development.

Contestants are judged on personality, confidence, ambition and life goals, rural and general knowledge, presentation and speech. Finalists must also demonstrate knowledge of their local community and current affairs.

‘Amy will make a great ambassador for Bingara’ said David Moor, one of the judges.

‘Amy has a genuine interest in, and knowledge of rural NSW while displaying purpose and ambition. One of Amy’s ambitions is to see a positive improvement in the Australian school education system and attitudes.’

Amy has completed a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) and will complete her Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) in 2014. Amy will officially open this year’s Bingara Show on the new earlier date, March 22.
