Bingara U3A Group Sees the Light

December 5, 2018

A small but enthusiastic group met at Bingara Central School on Sunday morning for an illuminating master class on why mowers and whipper snippers fail to start.

Geoff Leech gives U3A students the low-down on mower maintenance.

The workshop was presented by the very knowledgeable Geoff Leech. Within seconds, people were saying “I didn’t know that!” and by the end of the session, everyone vowed that they would no longer be tempted to chuck their whipper snipper over the fence or into the bin.

Geoff showed the group how to change the fuel and oil, explaining why we should do that, how to remove the spark plug and why we should do that and how to clean up an air filter. Geoff also gave us a lot of tips on correct storage of different types of fuel and safety gear to wear when using mowers or whipper snippers. All we need now is a bit more rain so that we can get mowing again with our new found skills and normal blood pressure!
