Bingara wants your old Christmas decorations…

November 26, 2015

It is that time of the year again when most people are getting ready to dust off the Christmas tree and hang up their lights in preparation for one of the most anticipated days of the year.

This year the Bingara Special Events Committee who are responsible for coordinating the Bingara Orange Festival, Australia Day celebrations and Christmas Carnival are urging residents to do a clean out of their Christmas decorations and drop any unwanted items to the Gwydir Shire Council or the Bingara Visitor Information Centre.

Last year the Bingara Lions club kindly purchased a number of artificial trees to be displayed in the street, the Christmas decorations will be used to decorate these trees as well as the giant Lions Christmas tree which will be erected in Fays Park as part of the Christmas carnival on Thursday, December 10.

“We want to make the main street and the town look festive,” said Cr Catherine Egan chair of the Bingara Special Events committee. It really is a magical time of year and we want our street to reflect that Christmas Spirit, we would appreciate people donating their old tinsel, baubles and solar lights so we can make this happen’ said Cr Egan.

Donations of Christmas decorations can be dropped to the Bingara Visitor Information Centre, or Gwydir Shire Council chambers during business hours.
