Bingara’s Lexi will shine as next year’s star of Opera In the Paddock

November 24, 2008

Bingara’s Lexi Hutton, will be a feature artist at Opera in the Paddock 2009, on March 14. It will be her second appearance at Opera in the Paddock, having made a guest appearance in 2006.

Since graduating from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the end of 2006, Lexi has completed two years of performance contracts with Oz Opera.
In 2007 she toured NSW with the school’s production of Mozart’s "The Magic Flute" including two shows at the Roxy.

This year she toured Victoria and southern NSW in the title role of Rossini’s "Cinderella".  The constant performance work, some valuable tuition in Melbourne, and competition successes in Melbourne Eistedfodd’s and the Australian Song Contest, have helped to enhance Lexi’s range, vocal tone and repertoire.

This November and December, accompanied by her mother Susan, Lexi is in Europe auditioning for Opera Masters courses at The Royal Academy of Music, The Royal College of Music and The Guildhall of Music, all in London. She is also auditioning for a June production of Bizet’s "The Pearl Fishers" for the Madrid Opera in Spain, and having some masterclasses in Vienna, Paris and Salzburg.

Lexi, attributes much of her love and passion for singing, and for opera, to her beginnings at Bingara Central School, piano teacher Jan Rose, high school teacher Diedre Rickards and to Soprano, Peta Blyth. Peta with husband Bill, are the originators and hosts of Opera in the Paddock, which takes place annually, "under the stars" at their property "Mimosa" near Delungra, between Bingara and Inverell.

With many fans in Bingara, Armidale and throughout the New England / North West, Lexi’s re-appearance at Opera in the Paddock 2009, will be eagerly awaited.
