For many locals the black swan which is used as the Bingara Central School logo has never made much sense but Cr Catherine Egan has a theory.
“There is a black swan which can be sighted in the Gwydir from time to time,” said Catherine. “I came across him the other day and I think he is the reason they use a black swan on the school emblem.”
It’s rare to see the swan but he does exist and those visiting the river are urged to keep an eye out for the stunning creature.
“He truly is a beautiful swan,” said Cr Egan.
