Bras, bras and more bras

March 30, 2014

“What an overwhelming response we’ve had to our ‘Uplift Bras’ project which was launched just three weeks ago,” Karen Bishton reports. Karen Bishton’s Barraba Yoga and Elise McLennan’s Fitness Training joined forces to launch the project.

“So far we have collected over 250 bras, with some coming from previous residents of Barraba and Bingara as far away as Newcastle and Brisbane,” Karen said. With another four weeks to go of collecting, Karen and Elise who are both delighted with the response, are hopeful of getting at least 400 bras to send away to our indigenous communities and those of the Pacific Islands, Indonesia and other women in need.

“Remember all bras are needed – sports, mastectomy, maternity, crop tops, big, small, slightly stretched – all can be reused and go to a woman who’s life will be changed because of your generous spirit.”

If you don’t have any bras to give yourself, considering going to one of our charity stores and perhaps purchasing some bras to donate to this very worthy cause.

Please continue to spread the word and drop off your second hand bras to Shenanigans Boutique in Bingara, Salon 97 or As You Wish in Barraba or any of Karen or Elise’s classes.
