Bullets on target for the new season

February 23, 2012

It was always going to be a tough assignment to take the Bullets from having no competition or players in September, to be ready for a trial at the end of February, but they have just about made it.

During the past three weeks up to 21 players have trained, but not all at once. Coach Steve Rampling was delighted with last Friday’s turnout and now expects the full squad to start preparing for the Warialda trial to be held March 3.

“This week we will start running as a team and this gives the players the opportunity to talk to me about positions and we can try a number of combinations against Warialda,” Steve commented. A second trial will be held two weeks later prior to entering the West’s Knockout in Tamworth.

The competition commences Saturday, April 14 with an away trip to Manilla. The Club intends to build the squad to at least 25 players by the end of the preseason trials.

Following training on Friday a BBQ will be held to allow the new and old players to get to know each other and talk to Rampling about the trial. The acting Coach of the Missiles, Tammie Breneger and her squad are also invited to the function. Training commences at 7pm and new players for both squads are very welcome to come along and join in.
