Campdraft to help care for local kids

April 10, 2015

This weekend, April 18 and 19 will Bingara Care for Kids Charity was formed in 2011 to help local children up to 17 years of age financially, with serious medical conditions or serious injuries.

The funds are held in a trust and distributed to children and their families by a committee consisting of an educator, social worker, and health professionals.

The organising committee has no say in where the money goes and it is all done via an application and on an as needs basis as determined by the committee of professionals.

This year as in previous years there will be a 2 course dinner provided on Saturday night for the cost of $12 for adults and $7 for children under 12 years. Most of the produce for the meal is donated therefore keeping costs to a minimum.

“This year the committee has decided that the proceeds from the dinner will go to the Dixon Family Fundraiser as both Marilyn and Bez have been tireless workers for the charity from its inception and have donated countless unpaid hours to keep everything running smoothly in the kitchen,” said event organiser, Sonia Coombes.

Due to the generosity of both local and non local businesses and families the prizemoney and prizes have all been covered through sponsorship or donations.

“We gratefully acknowledge the support of these people and businesses as we would not be able to run such a successful event without their contribution,” said Sonia.

“We welcome any help or donations. This is a community event and as such we encourage you, the local community to come along and support this very worthwhile cause.

Whilst we hope it doesn’t happen, one day it may be your child that requires assistance.

Nominations are still being taken and if you are interested in participating as a competitor or would like to attend the dinner contact Sonia Coombes on 67247147 or mobile 0429 429 426.
