Carnival On? Off? Definitely ON!

The Christmas Community Celebration will be held on Friday December 3 from 7pm.

Confusion arose last week as to whether there will be a community celebration.
Deputy Mayor, Catherine Egan, stated “A celebration will definitely be on Friday December 3. This event  will be community driven and simply supported by Council.

“This will be in addition to late night shopping, but will be a  chance for businesses to showcase what they have to offer for Christmas, and it is an opportunity for residents  to shop locally and to get behind our own community instead of heading out of town”.

Catherine had been approached by a number of disappointed community members when word had spread that the Christmas celebration had been cancelled.

“I was very surprised to hear that the night had been cancelled, so with the help of parents and community groups we will make it happen”.

Catherine also said, “We need to have an end of year street get together. It is a chance for kids to see and talk to Santa, and for families and friends to catch up and enjoy. I hope people come along and get in the festive mood”.
