Clean Up Australia Day 2014

February 28, 2014

We love to enjoy the great outdoors, but nobody wants to see rubbish strewn about.
Clean Up Australia Day is on again this Sunday between 9am and 12pm.

It is a simple way you can take action to clean up, fix up and conserve our prized Australian environment.

Local volunteers can come along and join the effort, with registrations starting from 8am at Cunningham Park (the Train Park), where The Bingara Lions Club will be hosting a free barbecue lunch for participants.

There will also be prizes for those who achieve the biggest clean up.

No roadside clean ups will be attended this year due organisational public liability changes. Bingara Central School, Bingara Garden Club and Bingara Men’s Shed will be attending their Clean Up sites during the week.

To join in, you can go to the website www.clean-upaustraliaday.org.au or go to Cunningham Park on the day and sign in as a volunteer.

Bags and gloves will be provided. Please bring your own closed footwear and suitable sun protection.

Clean Up Australia Day helps protect our environment and its inhabitants by assisting the community to collect litter from our parks and nature reserves across the Gwydir Shire. This year clean ups will take place at All Nations Hill, Batterhams Lookout, Truck Stop North, Truck Stop South and Cunningham Park. The Gwydir River will be tended to on March 9 between 9am and 12pm.
