Coulton thanks people of Parkes electorate

Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton has thanked the people of the Parkes electorate for their overwhelming show of support at the ballot box on the weekend.

Mr Coulton said it was incredibly humbling to be returned to office with a ten per cent swing and almost 70 per cent of the two-party preferred vote. “There is still around 20 per cent of the vote to be counted, including the postal vote, but it is very encouraging that despite a number of predictions to the contrary the people of the Parkes electorate have returned me with an increased majority,” he said.

“I would like to thank the people of the electorate who have shown faith in me and given me the opportunity to represent them for another three years. “It is a great honour to represent this wonderful electorate and I look forward to continuing to provide the best possible representation to every one of my constituents.

“I have a clear vision for the electorate in areas such as health, education, telecommunications and road and rail infrastructure that I will be working to implement over the course of this term.”

Mr Coulton said the huge swing to the Nationals across the nation was confirmation the party continue to be the voice of regional Australia. “The Nationals have had their best result at a Federal election in decades,” Mr Coulton said. “We have won three extra seats in the House of Representative and one extra in the Senate. In our 90th year the people of regional Australia have endorsed the Nationals as the party of Regional Australia.

“I would like to congratulate all my Nationals colleagues, with every single one recording a massive swing to them. Regional Australia has sent a clear message to Labor that after three years of neglect they have had enough.”
